A former owner of Malton Farm has created a very impressive website which explores both the history and the construction details of this important building.  We cannot do better than refer you to that website, via this link:

On this present Orwell Past and Present website, there are numerous references to the farm and the whole area, and you are recommended to make a search on the word 'Malton' in the search box beside the main heading.  This will reveal memories of people who worked on the farm, sale particulars, maps, etc.
