Contribute or Contact us

How to make a contribution, or get in touch.

This is a community website and although initial pages have been uploaded by the committee, our aspiration is that many current, former, or future Orwell villagers will make contributions. Consequently, if you have something to share, we will be very pleased to hear from you. You will be surprised how quickly you can add your own photographs and words to the site; it is an excellent way to share memories and knowledge, with a potential worldwide audience!

Just register and off you go. It will only take a few minutes, and you will be guided through the registration process by simple on-screen instructions.

Adding Words and Pictures - what could you add?

  • memories of life in Orwell
  • history of a house, building, or trade in Orwell
  • an old or new photograph of people, buildings or places of interest in Orwell
  • an aspect of current village life
  • comments or commentary on an existing page (or category, or topic). You will generally find an "Add a comment about this page" link at the bottom of each page.

It's up to you. Some people will feel comfortable in adding just a photo or a short comment to existing content; other individuals (or groups!) might wish to add complete articles or galleries of photographs.

It really is very easy, and surprisingly quick and flexible

  • You can Register now, and then start to create your contribution, referred to as a 'page'. You can save your page at any time and return to it later if you wish, to modify as required.
  • Once you've finished your page, just click a button to submit your words and photos to our editors for review and publishing.
  • Our volunteer editors may take several days to add your pages to the website, but an email will be sent to you when your article is published.
  • The next time you want to add information, just log in with your name and password.

Why do I have to register and log-in?

Registering sets up your own part of the website. It helps to stop unacceptable material being added to the site by unfriendly types.

Your details will be retained in case the editors need to make contact with you. An example of such a need is if something needs checking on any contribution you have made before it is uploaded to the main site. Rest assured that your email address will not be publicly available on the site, and you are hereby reassured that we will not pass on your email address to anyone without your permission. Please read more here of our privacy policy or through the links either at the very top or the very bottom of the page.
