First Time Visitor Guide

In this tour we will take you through a selection of pages that we have already uploaded to the site. These pages have been selected to give you a taste of what the site includes.

The next thing to do is click on one of the photographs below. You will then be able to follow the remainder of the tour by clicking on the links on the right hand side of the screen under the heading "More About".

Note that you can 'click' on many of the photographs to give an expanded view, sometimes revealing aspects of the photographs that are necessarily cropped within the standard page presentation. To get back to the page you are reviewing, simply click on the back arrow (normally at the top left of your browser window).

"Quick Links" (see the icons on the right hand side of the page) have been established to allow speedy access to a range of categories or pages within categories. Again, feel free to browse the site using these short cuts.

To return to the Home page at any time, click on "Orwell Past & Present" in the heading above, or the word "Home" in the blue band above (containing the category and page indicator).

Do not forget that, in addition, you can search this website by entering a significant or key word into the rectangular 'box' at the bottom right of the map above, to the right of the magnifying glass.

Above all, please enjoy yourself!
